about
Design Assembly began as a graphic design event in Auckland. An evening of talks and discussion run by Graphic Designers for Graphic Designers held four times a year. The evenings provide the opportunity for Graphic Designers to meet and connect with other Graphic Designers in Auckland. They also provide a forum to listen to three speakers each evening on a variety of topics relating to Graphic Design, with the purpose of educating and inspiring.
Design Assembly aims to encourage a connected community among the graphic design profession in New Zealand and to provide regular injections of energy and motivation throughout the year.

Why start up Design Assembly?
Working as a Graphic Designer for me is more then just a job, it’s part of my personality and I enjoy talking with other Graphic Designers – whether it’s about sharing knowledge, ideas, technical tips or just having a conversation with someone else who gets excited about the same things as I do.
Coming back from living overseas three years ago, I felt there was a lack of opportunities for Graphic Designers in Auckland to get together, meet up with other Graphic Designers, hear conversations on Graphic Design and start their own conversations.
I think its an opportunity to create a better sense of community amongst our profession in Auckland, to fuel ourselves up once every few months and get amongst the great creative minds we have working here in Auckland.
I look forward to seeing you at the next Design Assembly evening!

Why have a blog?
When Louise said she wanted to get designers talking I said we should run a blog. We have a lot of work to do but we are getting great participation from the community.
Design Assembly is building great design speakers and writters, get in touch with us if you have something you would like to contribute. (info at designassembly.org.nz)
